Being a foster home means having the ability of taking in and giving time and dedication to an animal rescued by our association who had lived in doubtful situations. By doing this, you help so to look after him while we find a permanent home.The period of an animal at his foster home will depend on his physicall and psychical health and his adoption chances, so it changes between a week and a couple months. Why is it so important for us that you become a foster home? Sometimes, foster homes are the only way of saving a dog's life untill a permanent home is found. Without them, lots of cats and dogs would have died or would still be living in horrific conditions, but, thanks to foster homes this animals have the chance of living in a love, carings and respect environment where they learn and get prepared for their future home.
Puppies: They are active dogs, who need being taught and aren't able to stay at a shelter or out in the street to prevent illnesses untill they are completely vaccinated. Puppies fostering lasts between a week and a month.
Dogs in risk of being killed or in mistreat conditions: There are lots of animales exposed to this risk and many advices are received due to this reason. A foster home means salvation while we look for an adoptant so we can avoid hundred of dogs and cats from being unfairly slaughtered in this country.
Elderly dogs: They use to be longer fosters and they are very necessary as due to their age they need quiet environments and special cares. Along the year they can catch a cold easier or suffer pain as bone arthitis, so they shouldn't be living in wet or too warm places. An adventage of this animals is that they are more quiet and grateful appart of extremely cute and affectionate. It's harder to find them a permanent home and it takes more time, but it is a unique experience!
Sick dogs: This fosters are necessary so ill or convalescent dogs heal at best conditions untill a permanent family is found.
Dogs with traumas and problems: They use to be shy and fearful and very distrustful too. This situation is due to a lack of attention, socialization or continuous mistreat. This dogs have lost confidence in people, but they are able to recover so with a little patience and lots of love they will become happy and secure dogs. We try to finance all the veterinary and feeding expenses, although foster homes use to help us by covering food expenses and even veterinaries. This help is very important for us due to our lack of resources but still we always try to pay every cost ourselves. For us, the most impotant thing is all the time, love and dedication you provide them while fostered, because their recovering is the most important of it all.Being a foster home is a gratifying experience, bacause you contribute with a necessary and important cause and you fight against mistreat and abandonement by giving a needy animal the chance of having a temporary home were they could feel how it is to be cared and looked after by people who respect and love animals. It is hard when they leave, however you must think that the fact of them living is because a permanent home where they are going to be cared and loved for the rest of their lifes has been found.
