Deaf due to age

Because of his age he suffers hip osteoarthritis, which doesn't stop him to live a full and happy life.

NEWS SEPTEMBER 2011:

Rouge is a year with us now! We have seen his recovery and happiest side! but unfortunately, we have also seen his hip deterioration along this time. Although medication slowed down the process, it is a long time since his hip started to degenerate and there is nothing our vets could do due to his age. Hip surgery might suppose Rouge a painful recovery with no granted success.

Even though, he is so grateful that stays smiling the whole day. Always by your side, even Rouge hears nothing, he understands signs perfectly as well as lip reading his name...

Rouge is so special that we can't find the words to start describing him...  You might understand better his behavior by listening his short story, the one we know, because if Rouge could speak, he could tell us so many things... probably not pleasant. Rescued from a public shelter in Murcia, he was starving, scared and with such pain he couldn't even move, his sad face had no comparition with the one in the pictures above... That was the prize for those loyalty years, being thrown out behind cold bars by his owner, who never saw what a great dog Rouge is.

Rouge has the burden of being an old dog, so his adoption chances are very low... sad, isn't it? Such a long time waiting for a true home that he got old waiting, just when the challenge is so close to be achieved.

Adopting an old dog is a difficult decition, as we all want to share as many years as possible with our mate, so a 9 year old dog reduces that time dramatically... But, we can tell that when they are by your side, you don't even think about this issue, you just share every minute together and try providing him the best without thinking what will come at last. What really matters is that he can stay lots of years by our side thanks to our love and caring. There are great advantages for adopting an oldie, they are the most calmed, greatful and loyal of them all! They enjoy being every moment with you, willing to live the home experience as anyone. They can still learn as a puppy and they are docile and clever despite their age. You could always think that it is a pity being less time by your side, but remember those great years and moments you can still share each other!

Rouge is as a puppy inside an ancient body! He runs and enjoys life the most, always looking after you and praying for a stroke and that special and unique moment with you. He sleeps a lot along the day and loves to be comfortable...

He suffers hip degenerative osteoarthritis, but it doesn't prevent him of living life peacefully and normally. He takes bone protection pills and anti-inflammatories basically when it is cold outside. Moreover, he is deaf due to his age, but you don't even notice unless he is asleep, he won't wake up untill you touch him :)

He is a very special dog and really deserves an opportunity!
